2019–20 – Round 4 Thanks

05 Feb 2020
The penultimate round of the 2019–20 season saw the Oxfordshire Cross Country League return to Lawns Park, Swindon. The weather was cold with strong winds to help make the already challenging conditions somewhat tougher. The conditions underfoot were ideal: muddy, greasy and very wet.

The Swindon Harriers’ men produced a convincing performance on home turf to make themselves very strong favourites for the men’s Division 1 team title. While in the women’s team competition, the White Horse Harriers AC ladies team continued to dominate their opposition in the women’s Division 1 team competition.

In the lower divisions Kidlington A (Men) and Oxford TC (Women) retained their overall leadings positions in Division 2 respectively. In Division 3 a strong performance saw Swindon B (Men) leapfrog the early leaders (Witney B) to take over the lead while Kidlington A (Women) also produced a strong performance to extend their overall lead.

The junior team events are being dominated by two clubs. Abingdon A are leading both the U13 Girls’ and U15/U17 Girls competitions, as they have done all season, and Radley A continue to lead the way likewise in the U13 Boys’ and U15/U17 Boys’ competitions, albeit the U13 team is in a close–fought with Oxford City A.

The League’s management team would again like to take the opportunity to thank the host club, Swindon Harriers, along with all the willing volunteers, without whom the fixture could not have gone ahead, for all their hard work in organising and hosting the fixture. As always, many thanks go to all of the officials, timekeepers, recorders, marshals and other volunteers who contributed once again to making the day a great success.

The final round of the 2019–20 Oxfordshire Cross Country League is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 1st March returning to Henley Showground. The fixture will again be co–hosted by Abingdon AC and Radley AC. Look forward to seeing you all there for the final showdown.
